A plane carrying 15 people, including a Colombian lawmaker, crashed Wednesday near Colombia’s border with neighboring Venezuela. All passengers and crew members were killed, the Colombian Civil Aviation Authority reported. TASR took over the report from the AFP agency.

“No one survived,” a representative of the aviation authority confirmed to AFP. There were 13 passengers and two crew members on board. The plane, which was operated by the state airline Satena, took off on Wednesday from the city of Cúcuta and lost contact with the control tower just before the planned landing. It was supposed to arrive in the nearby town of Ocaña at 12:05 p.m. local time (6:05 p.m. CET).
The cities are located in a mountainous area with very variable weather. In addition, the largest Colombian guerrilla group, the National Liberation Army (ELN), operates in the region. According to Colombian MP Wilmer Carrillo, his parliamentary colleague Diógenes Quintero and parliamentary candidate Carlos Salcedo were on board with their team.
