The Court authorized the City Hall to seize the revenue that the , with the aim of using the resources to reduce part of the debt accumulated with the municipality.
According to management (), the club owes R$507.37 million in IPTU and R$297.73 million in ISS to the public coffers.
According to the court decision, the organizers of the Latin American Open, which will take place between March 19 and 29, must deposit the rental funds in a judicial account.
The decision responds to a request from the Municipal Attorney General’s Office, in a tax enforcement action for ISS debts filed in 2018, after the club failed to collect tax for the previous two years.
In the decision, the Court stated that the measure does not interfere with the event, as it is promoted by third parties.
“The Municipal Attorney General’s Office works on a permanent basis to ensure the collection of taxes due, contributing to the fiscal balance of the municipality and the maintenance of essential services for the population”, said the person responsible for the body, Luciana Nardi.
