The project of the national president of , , to launch someone from his party as President of the Republic could cost the party the position of vice-governor on the (Republican) ticket in , currently occupied by Felício Ramuth.
For the state’s political leaders, only those who are committed to (PL-RJ)’s candidacy for president will be able to be part of Tarcísio’s platform in 2026, as the governor declared that for the 01st son of his political godfather, the former president.
One of Tarcísio’s allies told the Panel, with reservation, that Kassab, state secretary of Government, “can’t have everything” and that it makes no sense for the PSD to maintain such an important place on the ticket, considering that the governor himself must share agendas and events with Flávio during the campaign.
People close to Tarcísio argue that, even if the PSD frees its staff to choose who to support at a national level, the composition of a ticket requires an institutional commitment from the party, and not just individual commitment from some politicians. Therefore, they emphasize, even though Ramuth is a name that Tarcísio himself likes, it would be difficult to keep him in vice if he continues in the PSD.
Kassab himself, who has already proposed to be Tarcísio’s deputy with an eye on a possible candidacy for the São Paulo government in 2030, would also be discarded in this calculation. The name that gains the most strength for the post, in this scenario, is that of the president of the Legislative Assembly (Alesp), deputy André do Prado (PL).
PP and União Brasil, which form a federation, enter the ticket with the candidacy of federal deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP) for the Senate, while the PL is seeking another vacancy – names such as state deputy Gil Diniz and federal deputy Rosana Valle are mentioned.
On Tuesday (27), Kassab, Ronaldo Caiado, to the PSD, closing a trio of presidential candidates under his umbrella: in addition to him, there are also governors Ratinho Jr. (PR) and Eduardo Leite (RS).
“The one who is in the best condition will be the candidate, we will define it in April”, .
The president of the PSD defends “a moderate candidacy, which can be a counterpoint to a more radical proposal from the left and another more radical from the right” and states that he would give up running a candidate for the Presidency if Tarcísio decides to run for Palácio do Planalto.
“It doesn’t make sense [manter uma candidatura do PSD] because Tarcísio the president would be a union of forces, and the PSD would be together.”
