Briton Laura visited businesses in Bratislava with her partner: Sorry, but that place… Price shock!

The traveling couple Laura and Horia from Great Britain are fulfilling a big dream. They visit different corners of the world together and document their trips on social networks. They then share their insights from the visited destination with their followers and show what they liked and what disappointed them. On the YouTube channel, the pair published a vlog from the day spent in Bratislava. How did they like it in our capital?

They arrived in Bratislava shortly before 11 a.m. by train from Vienna. Their trip started in the Old Town and they spoke to the followers in front of Michael’s Gate, which is the only preserved gate from the original four in the Bratislava city fortifications. They paid 12 euros for the entrance to Michalská veža.

From there, the couple went for coffee and cake in a fancy pastry shop, where they serve only in rare historical porcelain, which is very attractive for tourists. “I think we just witnessed the difference between a tourist trap and a tourist spot,” Horia said.

Both praised the quality of the products. However, the prices did not excite them. “The prices are quite high. In order to be able to sit there at all, you have to spend at least 13 euros. The cakes were around 10 euros and they were all the same price, even the coffee was quite expensive, around 7 to 10 euros, which is really a lot. In the end, we paid about 36 euros for everything together,” they revealed, adding that in London they would pay roughly 30 euros for such an experience in a luxury establishment.

The British couple then headed to the markets. “Laura has local Slovak wine. It was 2 euros for a small glass and I have something called burčak. We paid a total of 5 euros for these two cups. Mostly we need cash for these markets. We don’t have that much cash, so we’ll spend what we can,” they said, what other things they tried.

While visiting Slovakia, no tourist should miss tasting our traditional bryndza dumplings. Laura and Horio also tried the tassels. “It tastes like childhood,” Laura rated the bryndza gnocchi. Horia has also tasted the srapecki and thinks they are better, because he finds bryndza gnocchi hard. “It’s a really big portion and it cost 9 euros” zoomed in.

After visiting the Primate’s Palace, where they paid 3 euros for entry, they again sat down in a nearby restaurant. Laura had wine and Horia beer. “One more note: we needed more cash in Bratislava than in any other big city we’ve visited so far, so I definitely recommend getting some euros in advance and having some cash with you.” advised the traveler to his followers.

At the end of the trip, they headed to Bratislava Castle, where they walked around and went to eat. “We weren’t very hungry and decided to split half a chicken. This is half a chicken. I mean… Is he in this room with us? It’s quite a skinny little chicken. When you take the skin off, it’s actually a third of the chicken. It’s excellent, but…” they evaluated in the vlog the food they were not enthusiastic about.

In the end, they said from the heart what they really think. “We don’t do this often, but sometimes it has to be done. Sorry, but the place has a 4.9 rating… Overpriced food, extremely salty, small portions and it took a long time to bring it to us. Chicken for 17 euros was small. That was smaller than a normal appetizer, sorry. I’m sure the other dishes are good, the place looked great, the people working there were nice… It was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu, so I can’t imagine ordering anything cheaper. What portion would that be? And it’s Slovakia, you’d expect the prices to be a bit… I don’t know… on the lower side“, the couple declared.
