Thousands evacuated due to heavy rain in Spain


Madrid/Lisbon – “Extraordinary” heavy rain fell on the Iberian Peninsula on Wednesday. In both Portugal and Spain there was a heightened state of alert due to the storm “Leonardo”. According to the authorities, more than 3,500 people were evacuated in the south of Spain. In addition, schools remained closed almost everywhere in Andalusia, and roads and train lines were closed. In Portugal, one person died in the storm in the southeast.
