13-year-old boy swam 4 hours to save his mother and siblings in Australia

A 13-year-old boy was considered a hero in Australia after swimming for around four hours to save his mother and two brothers who were adrift in the sea, off Quindalup.

Austin Appelbee was on a paddleboard and kayak trip with his family when the sea became rough and the kayak capsized, starting to pull them away from the shore. Faced with danger, the mother decided to send her eldest son to ask for help, staying at sea with her two younger brothers.

The young man ended up swimming about four kilometers to dry land, even removing his life jacket to move faster. Exhausted, he managed to alert the authorities, who launched a rescue operation.

Hours later, a helicopter located the mother and brothers, who had drifted approximately 14 kilometers and spent almost ten hours at sea, clinging to a board. Everyone was rescued safely.

The Australian police praised the teenager’s courage and determination, highlighting his decisive role in saving the family.
