In recent days, a man has been moving around one of the schools in Košice, asking students for money and threatening to stab them with a knife. Thanks to the quick reaction of the school, parents and the police, he ended up in the hands of the law. The Košice regional police informed about it on the social network.
“Investigator of the Criminal Police Department of the District Directorate of the Police Force in Košice accused a 23-year-old man of the crime of robbery, processed a request for his custodial prosecution, and the judge accepted the proposal. The accused man is currently in custody,” the police said.
Since the act was committed on a protected person, if proven guilty, the man faces a prison sentence of seven to 12 years. At the same time, the police officers will check whether he was also involved in other robberies that took place in the area of Košice recently.
The police received the criminal complaint on Monday (February 2), and arrested the man on Tuesday (February 3). “The suspect was recognized by one of the pupils, his movement was also captured by camera systems, and the high-quality operational and search activity of criminalists also played an important role,” the police informed.
In the case, according to her, the school management reacted exemplary, when, following information from parents, it immediately alerted other parents through the school’s app and urged them to contact the police without delay in case of any suspicious behavior. Pupils and parents who had direct experience with the suspect also reacted correctly and reported the situation. The information allowed the police to act quickly and in a targeted manner.
