Security camera footage shows the moment the teacher Juliana Faustino Bassetto27 years old, falls ill at the reception of a gym in the east of São Paulo, after being poisoned by adulterated chlorine in the local swimming pool.
In the video, Juliana still appears in her swimwear, crouched at the gym reception. She sits down, appearing to have difficulty breathing. Shortly afterwards, other people — also dressed in pool clothes — approached to help her.
The action lasts a few minutes, until Juliana is lifted and taken out of the gym. See below:
The teacher died last Sunday (8), after participating in a swimming class at the C4 GYM gym, in Parque São Lucas. According to the Civil Police, she was poisoned by chlorine mixed with an unidentified product, which caused a chemical reaction inside the pool.
During a press conference held this Monday (9), the general delegate of the Civil Police, Artur Dian, stated that the chlorine placed in the water was mixed with a product that has not yet been identified.
The incident occurred during a swimming class with nine people present at the gym in the Parque São Lucas neighborhood. According to witness reports, the students noticed a strong chemical odor, followed by burning in the eyes, nose and lungs, as well as episodes of vomiting.
Juliana was rescued at a hospital in Santo André, but did not survive after suffering a cardiac arrest. The wake and burial of the young woman took place this Monday (9) at the Quarta Parada Cemetery.
Her husband, Vinicius de Oliveira, and a 14-year-old teenager, who was hospitalized with blisters on his lung, are in the ICU (Intensive Treatment Unit). Two other people, identified as Eduardo and Tabata, have already been released after being treated.
