Lula’s approval reaches 44%, according to survey

A study by Ipsos-Ipec shows that 32% rate the government as excellent or good and 38% rate management as bad or terrible

Survey shows that approval of the president’s (PT) administration fluctuated from 43% to 44%, while disapproval went from 51% to 50%.

The study was carried out from June 13 to 17, 2026. It was released on Monday (June 22, 2026). Here are the results (PDF – 701 kB).

The survey shows that 32% of the population evaluate the federal administration as excellent or good. The result is practically stable compared to March, when the rate was 33%.

The negative perception – those who classify the management as bad or terrible – fell from 40% to 38%, but still remains higher than the positive evaluation. The portion of Brazilians who consider the government to be regular rose from 24% to 28%, while 2% did not know or preferred not to respond.

According to the director of Ipsos-Ipec, adespite the improvement in regular assessment, the government balance is still negative” and the scenario is still marked by “consolidated and polarized opinions”.

Approval and rejection profile

The government’s approval is more significant among voters who voted for Lula in 2022 (62%), residents of the Northeast region (47%), Brazilians with less education (47%) and families with an income of up to one minimum wage (41%). Support also appears more strongly among Catholics (38%) and residents of smaller cities, with up to 50 thousand inhabitants (39%).

Age breakdowns show that positive evaluations increase among people aged 45 or over, reaching 39% among Brazilians aged 60 or over. Among younger people, the rate is significantly lower, standing at 23% in the 16 to 24 age group.

On the other hand, the negative evaluation is more pronounced among voters of the former president (PL) in the 2022 elections, a group in which 74% classify Lula’s administration as bad or terrible. Rejection is also greater among evangelicals (49%), people with higher education (46%) and families with an income above five minimum wages (54%).

Regionally, disapproval is strongest in the Southeast (44%), South (43%) and North/Central-West (44%), contrasting with the Northeast, where rejection is 22%. The survey also points to greater dissatisfaction among residents of capitals and large urban centers.

Methodology

The research was carried out by Ipsos-Ipec between June 13th and 17th, 2026, through face-to-face interviews. 2,000 voters were interviewed in 130 Brazilian municipalities. The estimated margin of error is 2 percentage points, plus or minus, considering the total sample. The published confidence level is 95%.
