The defense of Felipe Cançado Vorcaroprimo do dono do Banco Master, requested on Monday (22) to revocation of preventive detention of the entrepreneur and the application of precautionary measures. To the minister André Mendonçaof the Federal Supreme Court (STF), lawyers contested the Federal Police (PF) report that he fled in a golf cart before the arrival of agents at a residence in Trancoso, Bahia.
The episode took place on January 14th during the second phase of Operation Compliance Zerowhich investigates alleged fraud involving Banco Master. According to Felipe’s defense, it had been determined that temporary prison of the businessman. After the PF report, it was converted into preventive.
In the petition presented to Mendonça, the lawyers denied being the manager in the recordings captured by security cameras seen by the PF. The defense stated that if they were about two different people in the images: the father-in-law and a guest of Felipe.
“The basis for evasion, therefore, is not supported by the information contained in the case file and cannot, therefore, support the need for preventive detention”, argued the lawyers.
Felipe Vorcaro, one of the targets of fifth phase of Operation Compliance Zerolaunched on May 7th. According to the PF, the businessman would be responsible for financial movement analyzed in the investigation.
Also in the petition sent to Mendonça, Felipe’s defense said that, after the operation, “Banco BTG Pactual spontaneously appeared in the case and presented extensive documentation clarifying the movements identified as indicative of asset concealment and criminal reiteration”. Lawyers argued that the “elements” were not analyzed in the minister’s decision and by almost all .
