Brazilians Bruna Moura and Eduarda Ribera were eliminated this Tuesday (10) in the qualifying phase of the cross-country skiing free sprint, at the Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina, Italy.
They failed to reach the top 30 fastest athletes on the 1.5 km course – which was necessary to advance to the quarterfinals.
Eduarda Ribera took 73rd place, with 4min17.05; Bruna Moura finished the race in 76th place, with 4min22s07.
It was Brazil’s debut at the Winter Games, held from February 6th to 22nd. The country has the largest delegation in its history: there are 14 athletes, in addition to a bobsled reserve.
Despite not qualifying, Bruna was very excited about participating in the race. She cried during an interview with TV Globo and celebrated the fact that she was an Olympic athlete.
In January 2022, the athlete suffered a serious car accident in Italy, on her way to the airport to board her first Olympics, in Beijing. She had eight fractures and injuries that left her unable to walk for two months and required a year and a half of physiotherapy.
