Federal deputy Zé Trovão (PL-SC) stated this Tuesday (10) that he and the other Bolsonaro parliamentarians who occupied the Board of Directors of the Chamber in a riot in August 2025 should win “a medal” for the episode.
Zé Trovão gave the statement during the Ethics Council in the process that could lead to the temporary suspension of his mandate and that of his colleagues (Novo-RS) and Marcos Pollon (PL-MS). He was asked by van Hattem what he expects “if justice is done” in the analysis of the case.
“I hope that, if justice is served in this case, that this process will be concluded in such a way as to put an end to all the allegations against us that are fanciful. And they should give us a medal. Not for honoring politics, but for honoring those who elect politicians”, replied the deputy from Santa Catarina.
Zé Trovão declared that the complaint for the occupation that paralyzed the plenary was presented only against three deputies is “completely unfair”. According to him, more than “70 parliamentarians” should have been in the same position, but he, van Hattem and Pollon would have been chosen as an “example”.
“This movement, today, was supposed to have more than 70 parliamentarians here, going through all of this. There should have been a hearing for 70 parliamentarians, because it wasn’t just me, it wasn’t just your excellency (van Hattem), it wasn’t just congressman Marcos Pollon who participated. We were finger-picked”, he stated.
“Have you ever heard of a piranha bull? When you can’t criminalize everyone, take one and throw him in jail and let him rot while you solve other people’s problems. It’s just to serve as an example. They want to make us an example for something,” he added.
In October last year, the Chamber’s Ethics Council opened four representations because of the Bolsonaro riot. Pollon, the target of two lawsuits, is subject to removal for 90 days, while Zé Trovão and van Hattem for 30 days, according to the Chamber.
The three parliamentarians were among the main obstacles that the President of the Chamber, (-PB), encountered on the journey between his office and retaking the position of head of the House during the occupation, on a journey.
Trovão even blocked Motta’s passage with his leg, while the others approached Motta.
