End of the 6×1 scale: companies say they will suffer losses if PEC is approved

According to the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry, studies point to a loss of competitiveness among companies with the reduction in working hours

Confederations and entities spoke out this Tuesday (10) about the advancement in the Chamber of Deputies of the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) that proposes a reduction in working hours. The companies claim that they will suffer losses if the proposal is approved.

According to the Brazilian Association of Machinery and Equipment Industry (Abimaq), studies point to a reduction in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with the end of the 6×1 scale, because companies would lose competitiveness. The Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) argues that the be dealt with between unions and companies.

On Monday (9), Motta forwarded the PEC authored by deputy Erika Hilton (PSOL-SP) to the Constitution and Justice Commission (CCJ). The project must then be analyzed by a special committee and then go to the plenary.

The Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea) predicts an impact on the payroll similar to the real adjustment of the minimum wage.
