The Italian police arrested a Slovak citizen who had been wanted for 16 years, who came to watch the ice hockey match between Slovakia and Finland on Wednesday as part of the Winter Olympics in Milan. Back in 2010, the court in northern Italy’s Bolzano sentenced the man to 11 months in prison for theft. He has avoided punishment so far. TASR informs about this according to Thursday’s report by the agency ANSA.
The man checked into a hotel in Milan’s Baggio district before the match. The Italian carabinieri managed to catch him thanks to a tip from the hotel staff. Law enforcement authorities transferred the already wanted Slovak to the San Vittore prison in Milan.
