The Prime Minister announced this Thursday that there will be an exclusively Portuguese Recovery and Resilience Plan, which he called ‘PTRR’, so that the country can recover economically from the consequences of the storms.
“I gave guidance to all ministries to design a major recovery and resilience program for Portugal, so that we could reach the entire territory. (…) No one will be forgotten, we will have a national response to a problem that affected the entire territory”, he guaranteed.
The announcement was made by Luís Montenegro during a visit to the areas affected by the floods in Alcácer do Sal.
“So that we can emerge from this succession of adverse events stronger, more resilient, socially recovered, recovered from the point of view of economic dynamics”, he said.
On the other hand, the objective of this program, he explained, will also be to make “a action that is absolutely essential on the most critical infrastructures“.
“Basic infrastructures, road and rail infrastructures, electricity supply, water supply, public services. We face an enormous challenge in the coming years of being able to recover and also becoming more resistant to a possible repetition of this or other phenomena of equal severity”, he said.
