The prostitution and pedophilia network belongs to the police sphere, even if its tentacles produce political implications. However, in the current era of searing degradation of public debate, it has become a revolving spray of ideologically motivated accusations. Epstein became Bombril.
Younger people don’t know. In the autumn of the 1970s, the Bombril steel sponge marketing campaign starring actor Carlos Moreno marked an epoch. The “Bombril boy” demonstrated the “thousand and one uses” of the household cleaning product. Epstein also has countless uses.
The Maga group, the movement, focused on the criminal case a decade ago, in the wake of the virtual sect QAnon. Epstein’s network would be the visible culmination of a global liberal conspiracy. The pedophile cabal would involve the leaders of the Democratic Party as well as their center-left European allies. Trump and JD Vance surfed this narrative in their most recent election campaign, imposing on the current president the uncomfortable release of millions of documents under judicial secrecy.
Democrats jumped in, banking on the emergence of scandalous revelations about Trump’s former friendship with the criminal financier. Poor disoriented souls: they don’t know how conspiracy theories work.
Epstein circulated in court. The court documents illuminate the scoundrel’s relationships with “everyone” – that is, the golden world of political, business, artistic and literary celebrities. There are Bill and Hillary Clinton – and now the Republican majority is forcing them to testify before Congress. Another Bill, Gates, too, perhaps looking for donations to his foundation. Musk, ditto, in addition to hundreds of etc.
Larry Summers, former president of Harvard, had to leave the university since the discovery of his exchanges of messages with Epstein. A photo shows Epstein hugging. Another, the iconic leftist Noam Chomsky on the financier’s jet – and there is an email from his Brazilian wife offering to send the scoundrel a book by Clarice Lispector.
From the mountain of garbage, few rats gave birth. Only incriminating evidence has emerged against a few stars – such as, famously, former Prince Andrew. There is no evidence of crime even regarding Trump, despite photos of old frolics. None of this, however, dampens opinion campaigns directed against liberals, leftists, conservatives or reactionaries.
Bombril. Jessé Souza, an egregious ideologist of the most crude Brazilian left, released a video associating Epstein with the “Jewish lobby”. The piece, with an anti-Semitism worthy of the tsarist police, was soon deleted and the author published a pathetic “correction”, apologizing for the “slip” – but only replacing “Jewish” with “Zionist”, the classic trick of the clever anti-Semite.
Forget the debate of ideas, this obsession with straight-faced old men. The image is everything. The initial impression instantly shapes the final conclusion. Messages from Epstein mention Lula, to the delight of the Bolsonaro sewer, and also Bolsonaro, to the delight of the Lulist sewer. The financier was born into a Jewish family, much to the enjoyment of the Jesses. Trump, Clinton, Chomsky or the proverbial “Wandering Jew” – choose the Epstein that suits you.
