Senator cites number of feminicides and nods to female voters in Santa Catarina
The senator and pre-candidate for President (PL-RJ) used part of his speech at a party event this Saturday (May 9, 2026) to try to get closer to the female electorate.
During the of PL pre-candidacies in Santa Catarina, the son of (PL) addressed women directly and spoke again about the rise in feminicide cases in the country. The theme is one of the main of the president’s government (PT) and should continue to be present in the PT’s speeches during the election campaign.
“I want to talk looking into your women’s eyes […] And I want to make a commitment here with women from all over Brazil. We will protect you. We will take care of you. We will give you the opportunity. And it’s not just lip service”said the senator.
The nod is part of Flávio’s strategy to gain space among the female public, which makes up 52.5% of the electorate, according to data from the TSE (Superior Electoral Court). In his appearances over the last 2 months, the senator incorporated the issue of combating violence against women in an attempt to reduce his rejection.
During this Saturday’s speech, the pre-candidate for Planalto cited the doubled emergency aid given to single mothers by the Bolsonaro government during the pandemic. He also said, without citing data, that his father’s administration recorded a record number of arrests for female attackers.
Flávio took advantage of Mother’s Day, celebrated this Sunday (May 10), to greet the country’s mothers, especially those who raise their children without a partner.
