A 39-year-old man was remanded in pre-trial detention after being detained in Parede, in the municipality of Cascais (Lisbon) for committing the crime of domestic violence against his girlfriend and her four-year-old son, the police announced this Saturday. .
In a statement, the PSP explains that, through an arrest warrant outside of flagrante delicto, it intercepted and detained “a man, aged 39, for committing the crime of domestic violence against his girlfriend, aged 30 years old, as well as against her son, a minor, aged four years old”.

The suspect allegedly approached the victim on a public street, next to a store, “starting to insult her and accusing her of cheating”, reads the PSP statement, which adds that the suspect “always presented a possessive and excessively jealous personality, insulting her and frequently insinuating that she cheated on him with several men”.
“When he reached the victim, the suspect slapped him and then tried to take the cell phone that he was holding in his hand, without success. As he was unable to remove the cell phone from the victim, he pushed her and slapped her again, causing her to lose her balance, with the son who was in his lap hitting his head against a door frame.”
The woman and her son were left with “visible injuries”.
The process culminated in the issuance of arrest warrants outside of flagrante delicto that were served on February 11. The suspect was interviewed by the police and was placed in preventive detention, the most serious measure of coercion.
