José Álvaro Moisés, professor of Political Science at FFLCH (Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences) in (São Paulo), died this Friday (13), aged 81.
The political scientist was one of the founders of the (Workers’ Party), a party of which he has become critical in recent years.
José Álvaro drowned, around 5:40 pm, on Itamambuca beach, in São Paulo.
According to the Seafarers Group, he was found unconscious on the sand strip.
The teams performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers while still on the beach, until the medical team arrived. Even after advanced resuscitation procedures continued, he did not survive. The death was confirmed at the scene by the health team.
The ABCP (Brazilian Association of Political Science) mourned his death and stated that José Álvaro was one of the main references in Brazilian Political Science, with fundamental contributions to studies on democracy, political institutions, political culture and the quality of democracy.
