On the anniversary of the Slovak school, Blanár thanked principal Veronika Bellová and six teachers for their work.
The active approach to the maintenance of the Slovak language and the development of the Slovak community was appreciated by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Juraj Blanár, during his Saturday visit to the Slovak Kindergarten and School in Milan. As part of the celebration of its 4th anniversary, he also met with the Slovak community from the Lombardy region. TASR was informed about this by the communication department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs (MFA) of the Slovak Republic.
On the occasion of the anniversary of the founding of the Slovak school, Blanár thanked its director Veronika Bellová and the six Slovak teachers providing the lessons for their work and efforts.
Support of compatriots abroad
The head of Slovak diplomacy confirmed the Slovak Republic’s readiness to continue to be in constant contact with compatriots abroad and to support their activities.
“We will try to find a way to help and contribute to the further development of the school. Equally important is the support of the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad, which annually contributes financially to its operation and activities,” said Blanár.
The Slovak kindergarten and school in Milan was founded in 2022 and is the only Slovak school in Italy. Every second Saturday of the month, approximately 40 children from Slovak-Italian families are educated. It also offers Slovak language courses for citizens of Italy, especially Italian fathers from mixed marriages.
As part of the work program, Minister Juraj Blanár also visited the Slovak National House (Casa Slovacca) and encouraged Slovak athletes at the hockey match of the Olympic tournament between Slovakia and Sweden.
