Fluminense confirmed its qualification for the semi-finals of the Campeonato Carioca by beating Bangu 3-1, this Monday, at Maracanã. With a dominant performance, the tricolor team built the result with goals from Savarino, Canobbio and Ganso, while Ricardo Sena scored for the visiting team.

The victory consolidates Fluminense among the four best in the State and places Vasco as an opponent in the next phase. The rival secured their place after beating Volta Redonda on penalties. On the other side of the bracket, Flamengo and Madureira compete in the other semifinal.

From the beginning, Fluminense controlled the actions and showed superiority, also reflected in the statistics. There were 13 submissions compared to just two from Bangu, highlighting the tricolor’s dominance. Despite this, the score was only opened in the 34th minute, after a decisive adjustment by coach Luis Zubeldía, who switched sides between Savarino and Canobbio.

The change took effect immediately. Savarino received a pass from Guga, advanced and hit a precise shot to score a great goal. Shortly after, at 38, Canobbio expanded with a shot from outside the area, leaving Fluminense with a comfortable lead before the break.

In the second half, the outlook remained favorable to the home team. Fluminense maintained control of the match and expanded at 34, when Ganso finished with his left leg. The ball even touched the post before entering, confirming the third tricolor goal and practically defining the confrontation.

Bangu managed to pull one back in the 37th minute, after a defensive error that allowed Ricardo Sena to finish with precision. However, the goal was not enough to change the scenario of the match, which ended in a safe victory for Fluminense in front of their fans.
