Boxes are customary during Carnival time! And there are those who celebrate a lot of success this year. Camarote King celebrates almost a decade of history in Marquês de Sapucaí. Director of the space, Lilian Martins highlighted that, despite the project completing ten years, this is the ninth edition carried out, due to the interruption during the pandemic. Lilian had a chat with the reporter from LeoDias portalKatharine Alves, on the first day of Rio de Janeiro’s Special Group parades, this past Sunday (15/2), and spoke about the high demand for one of the most sought-after spaces of Rio’s festivities.
According to Lilian, the box has established itself as a meeting point for both anonymous revelers and celebrities. “I think that the group that really likes to watch Carnival… There is someone here who already calls someone else, who discovers that they are here, that I I don’t know how! And when I see it, it’s crowded here. But full of ordinary people, famous people, everything you can imagine!”, she said. The director also reported that many customers discover that friends are also there and end up meeting there, reinforcing the atmosphere of fraternization.

One of the differences this year, according to Lilian, was the sale of tickets in the middle of the night; something unprecedented in the trajectory of space. “We’re even having sales at night, something we didn’t do before. A certain artist calls and asks: ‘Can I sing there?’. And then we announce it and soon we start selling. So, a year that’s totally different from anything we’ve experienced in other years”, he said.
In addition to the privileged view of the parades at Marquês de Sapucaí, the box invests in parallel experiences to keep the public entertained throughout the night. The program includes pagode shows, funk and other musical attractions. “There’s a show all night long, there’s always a pagoda going on. Because the public sometimes wants to watch the school they love, but that other school they don’t like very much, they go to the club, go for a spin. In fact, the Super Camarote was made for that, right? So it doesn’t leave you trapped”, explained Lilian.
Around 4:30 in the morning, when part of the audience has already left the venue, the box hosts a larger show for those who are still hanging out at the party. “For those who resisted and are still here, let’s put on a bigger show, right? Let’s stay together a little longer, let’s enjoy it?”, he said.
Present in Marquês de Sapucaí since 2017, Camarote King is one of the most traditional hospitality spaces of Rio Carnival. It is known for offering a privileged view of the parades, comfort, open bar e open foodin addition to musical attractions and services premium throughout the festivities.
