Deviled eggs. A spicy snack for family gatherings

Name deviled eggs may suggest that we are dealing with a dish not very suitable for the Easter table. Meanwhile, this is only a literal translation of the term deviled eggsi.e. spicy eggs. In culinary terms, the English word deviled means that the dish has been seasoned with spicy spices or contains spicy additives. In the case of the recipe below, it is chili peppers, mustard and Tabasco sauce. This is an interesting change from the classic ones stuffed eggswhich usually have a mild flavor. This dish will be perfect for family gatherings and will be an interesting idea for this year’s Easter.

To prepare this recipe, you will need:

  • 4 eggs,
  • 50 g smoked ham,
  • a piece of hot chili pepper,
  • a few blades of chives,
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise,
  • ½ teaspoon of mustard,
  • ½ teaspoon of Tabasco,
  • salt, pepper (to taste),
  • a piece of sweet pepper (for decoration),
  • a sprig of dill (for decoration).

If you want to prepare this dish for more people, double the amount of ingredients.

Boil the eggs hard (about 8 minutes after the water boils). Cool and peel. Cut each egg in half lengthwise. Carefully scoop out the yolks and place them in a bowl. Place the egg whites on a platter.

Mash the yolks with a fork. Finely chop the ham, hot pepper and chives. Add to the bowl with the yolks. Also add mayonnaise, mustard and Tabasco sauce. Mix all ingredients into a uniform paste. Season it to taste with salt and pepper.

Fill the egg white halves with the paste. Decorate with pieces of sweet pepper and dill.
