STVR reports do not show an unbalanced approach to the main political currents, the main discussion shows of the public media are not confrontational in nature. This was established by the international analytical company Media Tenor based on the analysis of the content and balance of STVR News and the 0 5 minutes 12 and Saturday Dialogues sessions. The TV station reported about it.
“Quantitative analysis confirmed that STVR News achieved the highest share of news related to foreign countries among the investigated Slovak news programs, and was also the most intensive source of information on domestic politics.” announced STVR about a study that mapped the news and shows between September and November 2025.
The study was also supposed to demonstrate balance in the representation and way of presentation of political subjects. The qualitative part of the analysis focused on 716 political contributions of STVR News longer than 30 seconds with a link to national politics. “In 93.9 percent of the contributions, no findings were identified that would conflict with balance,STVR added.
The institution clarified that the findings related mainly to incompleteness of information or failure to provide adequate space to one of the main subjects of the contribution. The share of cases that would disadvantage the government or the opposition was lower. “Therefore, program disadvantage and an unbalanced approach of a specific political current cannot be deduced from the analysis,” stated STVR.
In the case of the analysis of the O 5 minut 12 show and the Saturday Dialogues show, the findings confirmed that neither of the shows can be characterized as a confrontational discussion. “The moderation of the Saturday Dialogues was almost completely neutral, and in the program O 5 minut 12 there was a low degree of confrontation, which was directed in a balanced way towards representatives of both the coalition and the opposition,” dodal telerozhlas
The general director of STVR, Martina Flašíková, is pleased that the independent analysis confirmed the fulfillment of STVR’s statutory role in providing factual and pluralistic information. “We will use the findings as a basis for further improving the quality of reporting,” he advises. Director of the STVR News Section, Mária Hlucháňová, wants to use the results of the analysis as a professional basis for the further development of editorial standards.
