Since she recently revealed on social media that her mother suffers from dementia and Alzheimer’s and that, in the last year, her mother’s health condition has worsened immensely (), Sandra Silva was challenged to go to the TVI program ‘Dois à 10’ to talk about the topic and ‘open her heart’ about this challenging phase in the family.
After sharing what “the first signs” of the disease were, Sandra Silva also spoke about her mother’s current day-to-day life, who is in a day center and returns to sleep at home at night.
At a certain point, and regarding the progress of the disease, Sandra Silva was asked by Cláudio Ramos: “Does she still know you?”I wanted to know.
“Yes, there was only one day when she asked me where Sandra was and now last week it happened again, she asked my father: “who is that girl?”. 99% of the time she still knows us, but it’s getting worse”realized.
Sandra Silva admitted that, on that day, she was very sad to realize that the day would come when, in fact, her mother would not know her: “Everything fell on me, it was horrible. Because we know it can happen, but we hope it won’t happen”realized.
After revealing that her mother “is no longer the mother” she knew and that she is grieving day after day, the actress and digital influencer was confronted: “Sandra, if you don’t want to answer, don’t answer, but I really have to ask the question. Would you rather your mother not be here than see her go through this?”asked the presenter.
After a few seconds of silence, Sandra Silva replied: “Nowadays, I would prefer it. Because I think it’s very hard… People no longer have a quality of life (…)”she stated, excited.
