Jockeys Andrejka and Martin Hollý became parents of a little bundle of joy. However, their son Leo came into the world earlier than planned, and the circumstances of his birth are quite dramatic. TV reported on the details Leo was born on Valentine’s Day shortly after ten o’clock in the evening.
The happy mother described the details. „It was stressful but extremely fast. I started the first contractions, so completely weak, a little before nine in the evening and he was born at ten.” Andrea confided. At first they did not deal with the contractions because they were convinced that they still had enough time. Their due date was six days later.
As the contractions intensified, they rushed to the hospital. But they did not have time to arrive there. „I thought until the last moment that we would make it, but it couldn’t be stopped anymore, so we had to stop at the pump.” she described the turning point. At that moment, Martin had the feeling that time had stopped. „The whole thing could have taken two minutes from the moment I saw the head to the moment she had the baby covered on top of her.” responded Martin Hollý.
Paramedic Anna from the operating center helped him with the birth of his son over the phone. „She kept absolute calm and was able to navigate me exactly, as well as me and my wife, which was the most important thing in all of this.” added the jockey, saying that the paramedic did an extremely professional job.
The new parents are extremely happy and especially grateful for how it all turned out. „We thank God that there was no complication,” Martin said. Andrea sent an important message to expectant mothers. „Definitely don’t wait. Even if they think it’s just false contractions or that it’s not strong enough yet, don’t wait.” she emphasized.
I prefer an ambulance to my own transport
This story has a happy ending, but the gynecologist and obstetrician Jozef Záhumenský emphasizes that the safest place to give birth is definitely a hospital. „As soon as a woman goes into labor so quickly at home, it means that she feels very intense contractions, for example every two to three minutes, and possibly her amniotic fluid flows out, it is much better to call an ambulance than to transport her in her own car.” advised future parents.
