Military Police Sergeant Venilson Cândido da Silva, aged 50, became a defendant for the murder of app motorcyclist Thiago Fernandes Bezerra, aged 23, in Camaragibe, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife. The decision was taken by the Court on Tuesday (17), after the Public Ministry of Pernambuco (MPPE) presented the complaint.
According to investigations, on the afternoon of December 1st.
In addition to making the sergeant a defendant for qualified homicide, with the qualification of futile motive, the court of the 1st Criminal Court of the District of Camaragibe maintained the preventive detention of Venilson, who is detained at the Military Police Reeducation Center (Creed), in Abreu and Lima, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife.
The court decision highlights the seriousness of the crime and the circumstances surrounding the accused, reaffirming the need for arrest to guarantee public order.
“In view of the facts narrated, I verify that the police authority is right, I am convinced that the arrest of the accused appears strictly necessary and appropriate, either due to the seriousness of the crime, the circumstances of the incident and the personal condition of the accused, or to avoid the commission of new criminal offenses, with the granting of provisional freedom or its replacement by another measure listed in art. 319, Code of Criminal Procedure, as requested by the ministerial representative. In view of these considerations, based on articles 311, 312, 313, of the Code of Criminal Procedure, I welcome the representation made by the police authority, and MAINTAIN THE PREVENTIVE PRISON OF VENILSON CANDIDO DA SILVA, as a guarantee of public order and to ensure the convenience of criminal investigation”highlights the document.
The defense of Military Police sergeant Venilson Cândido da Silva, lawyer Ernesto Cavalcanti, informed that he should appeal the decision.
“We are filing a habeas corpus petition, asking for his provisional release, consequently the application of some precautionary measure so that he remains free, as he does not pose any risk to society”, commented the lawyer.
