Post-carnival: more than 100 blocks take to the streets of SP this weekend

For some, the end of is synonymous with the beginning of the year. On social media, physical and mental exhaustion after so many days of revelry even led to the “NDF” meme, or “Nojo de Farra”, to symbolize a new era without glitter, fanfare and alcoholic drinks.

For others, however, Carnival is to be enjoyed throughout February, from pre to post-carnival. And for this group, the agenda is full.

Even after country blocks, classics and even K-pop rhythms, São Paulo’s post-carnival promises to fill the streets with more than 100 block options for this weekend. Among the big names are Daniela Mercury, Léo Santana, Pedro Sampaio and Baiana System.

The most famous address this weekend will be Ibirapuera, especially on Sunday, with two megablocks in a row. However, to avoid overcrowding, City Hall added two other emergency exits: in the parking lot of the São Paulo Legislative Assembly and on Rua Abílio Soares.

Saturday:

Pirate Ship

One of the most anticipated by fans, the megablock of the band BaianaSystem parades from 3pm, on Saturday, in Ibirapuera, with dispersion scheduled for 6pm.

The concentration will be at Obelisco and the expectation is that a sea of ​​people will take part in the group that has Russo Passapusso on vocals, lots of Bahian guitar and an apotheotic energy.

My Saint Is Pop

Founded in 2014, the LGBT+ group is scheduled to parade in Campos Elíseos, on Saturday, the 21st, starting at 1pm and dispersing at 5pm.

Charanguinha from France

The children’s block of the traditional Bloco Charanga do França is scheduled to parade through the Center region, on Saturday, the 21st, starting at 10am and dispersing at 2pm.

The route will be: R. Major Sertório, 573, R. Cesário Mota Junior, R. General Jardim, R. Dr. Vila Nova.

I love you, but only as a friend

With songs ranging from Claudinho and Buchecha to Caetano Veloso, including Olodum and sambas-enredo, the group will parade in Pinheiros on Saturday, 21st, from 1pm and disperse at 6pm

The route will be: R. Vupabussu, R. Padre Carvalho, R. Marcos Azevedo, R. Ferreira de Araújo.

Ema moaned from corner to corner

Forró lover? Bloco A Ema Gemeu de Canto em Canto mixes the revelry of carnival with the traditional rhythm of Paraíba music. He is scheduled to parade in Vila Madalena (route will be Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima, 364), on Saturday, at 11:58 am, with dispersion at 6 pm.

Domingo:

Comes with the Giant

Led by Léo Santana, Vem com o Gigante relies on a repertoire of axé and pagodão to lead the crowd in a micareta atmosphere. The block parades from 9 am in Ibirapuera with dispersion scheduled for 2 pm.

Queen’s Popcorn

Led by Daniela Mercury, the Bahian singer brings her biggest hits to the trio that leaves at 1 pm on Rua da Consolação and is scheduled to disperse at 6 pm.

Beats Block with Pedro Sampaio

Commanded by the DJ who has produced several Carnival hits, the block is for lovers of electronic beats and anyone who wants to transform the public road into a dance floor. With a rally scheduled for 2pm at the Ibirapuera Obelisk, the group will parade until 6pm on Sunday, 22nd.

Syndic’s Block

Since 2015, the group has been bringing joy to the streets with the rhythm of Tim Maia and this year, “it promises to end the São Paulo carnival with a flourish”. It is scheduled to parade in Moema (route will be Av. Helio Pellegrino, 200), starting at 1 pm, with dispersion at 6 pm.
