A minibus caught fire while taking karate athletes to a competition this Sunday morning (22). THE fire occurred at kilometer 118 of Rodovia dos Bandeirantesin the city of Sumaré, in the interior of São Paulo.
According to the PMRv (Military Highway Police), the driver identified smoke get out of and parked on the shoulder. Soon after, tried to fight the flames with the extinguisherbut without success.

Despite that, no one was injured. The bus belonged to the City of Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, and took athletes to a championship which would be held in Ibirapuera Park, .
According to Artesp (Delegated Public Transport Services Regulatory Agency of the State of São Paulo), the fire was extinguished around 7am and another bus was taken to remove the passengers.
In a note, the SSP (Public Security Secretariat) informed that the case is being registered by the Civil Police. A CNN Brazil requested a note from the City Hall that owned the vehicle and is awaiting a response.
