Actually, one might think, it’s old hat. Hungary has repeatedly disagreed in recent years when it came to common EU sanctions against Russia. And it could always rely on an ally. It is currently Slovakia that is on Hungary’s side in the conflict with Brussels and ultimately also with Kyiv.
