The senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), stated this Tuesday, 24, that the Liberal Party defined the composition of the majority ticket in Rio de Janeiro for the 2026 elections. According to him, the articulation was closed in a meeting with the State governor, Cláudio Castro (PL), in Brasília.
According to Flávio, Castro and the mayor of Belford Roxo, Márcio Canella (PL), will be the party’s candidates for the two Senate seats in Rio. For the Chamber of Deputies, the names chosen were senator Carlos Portinho (PL-RJ) and Altineu Côrtes (PL-RJ), current federal deputy and state president of the party.
In the dispute for the Guanabara Palace, the PL will launch as a candidate for vice-governor the mayor of Nova Iguaçu, Rogério Lisboa (PL), who must form a ticket with the name supported by the political group in the State.
The announcements were made by Flávio in a conversation with journalists after the meeting with Castro. The senator highlighted that the strategy in Rio seeks to strengthen the party’s platform in the State and expand the party’s presence in both the Executive and the federal Legislature.
