National Republican Guard reveals new modus operandi of the tar gang

The Republican National Guard has warned of a new scheme used by the so-called “tar gang”, an organized group that has been operating for several years and continues to adapt its methods to deceive victims in different parts of the country.

This group, with origins associated with Irish criminal networks, normally presents itself as construction or paving teams, approaching individuals, companies and municipalities with proposals for quick, low-cost work. The new modus operandi now involves greater sophistication in the approach: they use more credible vehicles, uniforms similar to those of legitimate companies and false documentation, creating an appearance of legality.

After convincing the victims, they begin work of poor quality, use inadequate materials and, often, abandon the work halfway through, demanding high payments or creating situations of intimidation.

The GNR appeals to the population to be suspicious of spontaneous approaches, always check the identity of companies, never accept works without a formal contract and report any suspicious situation to the authorities.
