To replace Gustavo Pires, the mayor of SP announced the appointment of Colonel Salles, former commander of the Military Police
The mayor of São Paulo, Ricardo Nunes (MDB), announced on Wednesday (25) the resignation of the president of São Paulo Turismo (SPTuris), Gustavo Pires, and the deputy secretary of Tourism, Rodolfo Marinho. The decision, announced through the mayor’s social networks, comes after allegations of irregularities involving million-dollar City Hall contracts.
The decision to exit came after a report published on Friday (20) by the Metrópoles portal. The article revealed that Rodolfo Marinho has already had been a member by Nathália Carolina de Silva Souza, founder of the MM Quarter agency. Since Marinho was appointed to the secretariat, in 2022, the agency has become hired on an ongoing basis by SPTuris and by the Tourism Department itself. According to the newspaper, MM Quarter currently has R$232 million in contracts in force with the municipality.
After the case was publicized, Ricardo Nunes contacted the Municipal Comptroller General (CGM) to investigate the situation. According to the mayor, the investigation found a document that check the current connection between the parties.
“The controller brought me documents relating to this investigation. Within these documents, a power of attorney from Nathália to the deputy secretary Rodolfo Marinho. Because of this, I am dismissing, dismissing, Mr. Rodolfo Marinho”, explained Nunes in the video published on Instagram.
To replace Gustavo Pires as president of SPTuris, Nunes announced the appointment of Marcelo Vieira Salles, known as Colonel Salles, aged 59. He is a former commander of the Military Police of São Paulo and served as deputy mayor of the Cathedral.
“I am also nominating, from today onwards, Colonel Salles, a very prepared person, with good knowledge of the administration and unshakable integrity, to preside over SPTuris, who must, through his presidency, give full collaboration to the Comptroller’s Office to continue the investigations. We do not allow, in our government, any type of illegality or irregularity”, said Nunes.
