During the launch of Rouanet program not Interior this Thursday (26), in Salvador, the Minister of Culture, Margareth Menezesresponded to criticism about her performance as an artist while holding the position at federal government.
The minister denied having used resources from the Rouanet Law to finance presentations at Carnaval of the capital of Bahia, before or after assuming the ministry. According to her, the accusations are “unfair and disproportionate” and configure a “unfair persecution”.
“They attack not just me, but the entire team that works with me”he completed.
Margareth also highlighted that she is about to complete 40 years of artistic career and that her performance “has always been in compliance with the guidelines of the Ethics Committee of the Presidency of the Republic“.
The minister also explained that she significantly reduced the show schedule since taking office. “During this time, I have only performed in my city and state, out of respect for my public position. I cannot give up a right that is constitutional”he declared.

The controversy involves a presentation by the minister at the Salvador Carnivalon the Barra-Ondina circuit, in the “Os Mascarados” block, sponsored by public resources of the Government of Bahia.
O Ministry of Culture denies irregularities and maintains that there was no transfer of resources from the Rouanet Law for the minister’s presentation at Carnival.
