Leaders of the party want to take advantage of the presence of the senator (PL-RJ) in , this Friday (27), to pressure the governor (Republicans) to accept a deputy from the party in the 2026 elections or even join the former president’s party.
Pre-candidate for the Presidency of the Republic, Flávio will discuss details of the electoral list in the state with the governor on Friday morning, in a meeting at Palácio dos Bandeirantes, headquarters of the government. Afterwards, the two will go to Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo), where the national president of the PL, , will be honored with the Necklace of Honor for Legislative Merit, the House’s highest honor.
The tribute was proposed by the president of Alesp, deputy André do Prado (PL), appointed as Valdemar’s pupil and who aspires to the position of vice-governor. André’s name will be defended by Flávio at the meeting, according to two PL assistants interviewed by the Sheet.
Flávio must address the situation of Tarcísio’s current deputy, Felício Ramuth (PSD), who is being investigated for (around R$8.3 million) in Andorra. Ramuth is seen as the governor’s favorite to continue in office and, in front of the state secretary of Government and national president of the PSD, he has admitted to people close to him that he should change parties for the dispute. The MDB is named as the likely fate of the vice-governor.
In the notes made by Flávio on Tuesday (24), revealed by Sheetthe senator wrote Ramuth’s name and linked it to a “$”, in reference to the investigation. And he also recorded: “André do Prado vice?”
Tarcísio stated that investigations into his choice for vice. But Flávio and other PL leaders must argue that this will be used by the opposition against the governor in the campaign, a wear and tear that can be avoided if he opts for another name.
In this Friday’s conversation, Flávio should remind Tarcísio that the party has the largest bench in Alesp, with 20 of the 94 deputies, and that in order to build a competitive ticket in São Paulo, it will be necessary to have at least one member of the PL competing for a majority position.
The ideal for the party is for Tarcísio himself to join the party, something that has been sought since the beginning of his term. Even in the face of the governor’s denials, Valdemar confirmed to Sheet who will make a new invitation for him to move to the PL.
“What he had committed to was coming to the PL if he was a candidate for President of the Republic. But of course we will talk again. Who isn’t interested in joining the governor of São Paulo?”, he told the reporter.
Valdemar and the PL leadership want to avoid repeating what happened in the first round of 2022, when more than 500 thousand votes for the São Paulo government because voters were confused about Tarcísio’s party.
On that occasion, the votes for governor that contained the number 22, used by PL and Jair Bolsonaro in the presidential election, were annulled, but which did not correspond to Tarcísio’s party, the Republicans, whose ballot box number is 10.
The PL leaders’ fear is that, if the episode were repeated, the annulled votes could favor a possible left-wing candidate and, consequently, hinder Flávio’s performance. This is because the PT wants to launch a candidacy for the government that advances to the second round and guarantees a platform for the president in São Paulo, in order to maintain – or even reduce – the difference between the PT and the Bolsonarist candidate in the last election.
For parties, it is interesting that presidential and government candidates have the same number of ballot boxes to avoid such confusion and also to strengthen votes for deputies and senators.
