Ipsos: violence leads concern in Brazil; corruption advances

Crime and violence are today the main concern of Brazilians, according to an Ipsos survey released on Thursday (26). According to the survey, 49% of those interviewed in the country point to the issue as the biggest national problem.

The data puts Brazil in line with the trend observed in 30 countries surveyed by the institute, where public security appears at the top of concerns. In Latin America, all countries, with the exception of Argentina, indicated crime and violence as the main challenge.

Although violence leads the ranking, concerns about financial and political corruption have gained strength. Ipsos identified that 40% of Brazilians mention the topic, an increase of 7 percentage points compared to January and 11 points in the annual comparison.

The rise occurs amid the Compliance Zero operation, which investigates Banco Master, owned by banker Daniel Vorcaro, as well as managers and executives linked to investment funds and operations with credit securities.

The survey was carried out between January 23 and February 6 in 30 countries, using an online panel. The standard sample is 1,000 respondents per country, with a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points. In nations with samples of 500 people, the margin rises to 5 percentage points.
