President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva proposed, on Tuesday night (3), that the proposed law for the end of the 6×1 scale be created jointly by employees, employers and the government. Lula’s statement took place at the opening of the Second Labor Conference, which takes place in the capital of São Paulo until the 5th, in Anhembi.
According to the president, for workers, it will be more advantageous to reach an agreement with the business class before Congress considers the issue.
“It is better for you to build by negotiating than for you to have to swallow something open [vinda do Congresso]and then have to appeal to the Labor Court”, said Lula, adding: “It will be better for us if what comes out is the result of an agreement between businesspeople, workers and the government”.
The president also said that the government will not “swing to one side” in the discussions.
“We will not harm the workers. And we also do not want to contribute to the harm of the Brazilian economy. We want to contribute to, in a well-thought-out, well-harmonized way, finding a solution,” he said.
The meeting, in Anhembi, aims, according to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, to establish guidelines for promoting decent work in Brazil and strengthening social dialogue and the collective construction of public policies.
