Banco do Brasil offers payments via Pix in Argentina

The service can be used in physical commercial establishments by account holders and not customers of the financial institution

O Bank of Brazil launched this Friday (6) a resource that enables payments via Pix in physical stores in Argentina. The service also can be used by non-account holders of the financial institution.

To make paymentthe user needs to make the reading a QR Code made available by the establishment through the Banco do Brasil application. Afterwards, the customer checks the data and confirms the transaction No registration or prior authorization required.

Conversion is done automatically. The customer pays in reais and the establishment receives in the local currency, the Argentine peso. According to Banco do Brasil, the process is made possible through technological interfaces that connect the different financial systems that allow the transaction to be processed in a few seconds.

The exchange operation is integrated into the transaction. That way, there is an incidence of Tax on Financial Operations (IOF).

The solution to make Pix available in Argentina was developed in partnership with Banco da Patagoniawhich is part of the Banco do Brasil conglomerate. The Wapa billing system and the infrastructure of Coelsa, a company in the Latin American payment method market, are also used.

“The launch of Pix abroad reinforces Banco do Brasil’s international operations and our commitment to innovation in payment methods aimed at people’s well-being,” said Felipe Prince, management advisor at Banco Patagonia and vice president of Internal Controls and Risk Management at Banco do Brasil, in a statement.

Banco do Brasil is still studying the expansion of Pix to other countries from America, Asia and Europe, mainly in regions with a large presence of Brazilians. The initiative is part of the financial institution’s strategy of expanding the offer of digital financial services and simplify international payments.
