I present myself as a right-wing candidate, says Ratinho Junior

Governor of Paraná awaits PSD’s decision on candidacy for President; besides him, Eduardo Leite, from Rio Grande do Sul, and Ronaldo Caiado, from Goiás, are in the running

The governor of Paraná, (PSD), told the Poder360 on Friday (March 6, 2026) which will be presented as a right-wing candidate”and not as “third way”in the 2026 presidential elections.

The statement was made during the meeting “PSD proposals: model for Brazil”, promoted by the Foundationdo (Social Democratic Party) in São Paulo (SP).

I do not present myself as a third way. I will present myself as a candidate from the democratic right, from the citizen right, from a citizen political project that has the capacity to make a more efficient public machine by taking care of the most humble”, said Little Mouse Junior.

Asked about the strategy to overcome the barrier of polarization and reach the 2nd round, Ratinho Júnior explained that the campaign work has not yet started. “We haven’t started working yet. The party hasn’t defined the name, who the candidate will be. This will happen in the next few days”he stated.

“Once the candidacy has been defined, we will naturally have the opportunity to present a little of what we have done and what we want to do for Brazil”these.

DEBATE WITH PSD PRE-CANDIDATES

The PSDB currently has 3 party pre-candidates for the Presidency of the Republic: the governorsfrom Rio Grande do Sul;from Paraná; andfrom Goiás.

Re-elected in 2022, the party’s 3 pre-candidates are in their 2nd consecutive term as governors of their respective states. Together, they represent more than 22 million people, according to data from the last census of the (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), carried out in 2022.

According to electoral legislation, governors who wish to run for President must leave their current position by April 4th of this year.

The meeting discussed issues related to education, health, security, agriculture, entrepreneurship and the appreciation of science, in addition to the adoption of transparency mechanisms in the use of public money. A possible administrative reform, mixed district voting and a greater role for municipalities in the national political scene were also the subject of the event.
