Messi is a phenomenon — and Miami knows it (very well paid!)

Messi is not just the best on the pitch – he is a genius

Lionel Messi continues to be an absolute success, and his salary reflects exactly that.

According to the owner of Inter Miami, Jorge Mas, Messi receives between US$ 70 and 80 million per year — an amount that includes salary, bonuses and his equity in the club.

He is by far the highest paid player in MLS. But the impact goes far beyond the paycheck: since Messi’s arrival, Inter Miami’s value has exploded.

  • Pre-2023 (Forbes): about $585 million
  • Today (2026): US$1.35 billion (Forbes) — some sources like Sportico already point to up to US$1.45 billion.

His contract runs until 2028/29, and participation as a partner guarantees a more than peaceful retirement. Apart from that, come the mega-agreements with Apple (broadcasts), Adidas and several other major sponsors.

Jorge Mas sums it up well: “I need strong sponsors because players are expensive… but Messi is worth every penny”. It’s the kind of check that the boss signs with a smile.

Messi isn’t just the best on the pitch — he’s a genius.
