O Jericoacoara Regional Airport, in Ceará, will be managed by Fraport Brasil, concessionaire responsible for the terminals in the capital of Ceará, Fortaleza and Porto Alegre (RS).
This Tuesday (10), the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPor) signed the amendment that includes the terminal in the Fraport contract, through the AmpliAR program.
The new concession provides for around R$ 101.1 million in investments for improvements in the aerodrome’s infrastructure, such as expanding the aircraft apron, building safety areas at the runway ends (RESA), renovating and modernizing the passenger terminal, in addition to operational adjustments to meet the growth in the flow of tourists.
For Minister Silvio Costa Filho, the concession represents an advance in federal concessions and a milestone for local development.
“This will bring a significant gain to the region, which has great potential in tourism, especially leisure. Furthermore, this will greatly strengthen the tertiary sector, which is the services sector. The region will transform into a great regional development hub”, he stated.
Andrea Pal, CEO of Fraport Brasil, said he has confidence in the project, in addition to being committed to starting work to modernize the terminal.
““We are confident that despite the years of low growth, tourists will return to Ceará and we are committed to starting modernization works as quickly as possible, to fulfill our synegegy plan between Jericoacora and Fortaleza.”. he declared.
