The senator and pre-candidate for the Presidency, Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ), thanked Argentine President Javier Milei for the country granting political asylum to a person convicted of the coup acts on January 8th. The conversation took place during the inauguration ceremony of José Antonio Kast, the right-wing candidate elected president of Chile.
In a video published on social media, Flávio appears at the event hugging Milei and talking briefly in front of the press. “A big hug from my father, my brother and thank you very much for being the first to recognize the first political asylum of a Brazilian. There is hope”, stressed Flávio on Wednesday (11).
In a short response, Milei responded to the thanks by saying “he already won”, in reference to the elections taking place in October this year in Brazil.
On March 4, convict Joel Borges Correa, one of the fugitives after being included in the list of those investigated for the coup acts, received political refugee status in Argentina, granted by the country’s National Commission for Refugees. The information was provided by the Association of Relatives and Victims of January 8th.
Flávio Bolsonaro was invited by the right-wing Kast to participate in the inauguration. As head of state, President Lula had also been invited, but declined to participate at the last minute after learning that Jair’s son would also be present.
To the press, and criticized the absence of the PT member. “Kast is much bigger than Lula. If I were him, I would rest, he already did what he had to do in Brazil”, he stated.

With a conservative profile, Kast has a very close relationship with the Bolsonaro family. Jair has expressed admiration for Kast several times and received support in the 2022 elections against Lula.
