The Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, reinforced this Thursday, 12th, the argument of respect for governance at Petrobras. He once again ruled out any attempt to intervene in the company due to the rise in oil prices.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced this Thursday a package of measures to reduce the price of diesel oil in the country. The main one is a decree that resets federal tax rates on the import and sale of diesel.
Ministers held a meeting with representatives of the largest private fuel distributors – responsible for around 70% of the private market in Brazil. Earlier, measures were also announced to increase supervision and prevent abusive prices.
At the meeting, the topic of strengthening fuel price monitoring was discussed with company representatives. Silveira says that the distributors received the inspection measures positively.
