The elderly José Medeiros Brandão, 65 years old, known by the nickname “Deca”, was the victim of an attempted murder with a knife while walking on a public street on Thursday night (12), on Rua Boa Ventura, in the Vitória neighborhood, in the upper part of the city of Rio Branco.
According to information from witnesses, “Deca” was walking down the street in a visible state of intoxication and carrying a machete and a knife. At one point, he allegedly argued with an as-yet-unidentified man, who was also armed with a knife.

During the confusion and with tempers high, the suspect stabbed the elderly man with a knife, hitting the groin area. Even though he had a machete and a knife, the victim was unable to defend himself. After the crime, the attacker fled the scene.

People passing by on the street found the victim lying and bloody. Faced with the situation, they provided assistance and called the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu), which sent an advanced support ambulance to provide initial assistance. After evaluation by the medical team, the elderly man was taken to the Rio Branco Emergency Room, in a stable state of health.

The Military Police were not called to respond to the incident.
