RJ: Paes calls state government leaders ‘thugs, delinquents’

Two days after the arrest of councilor Salvino Oliveira (PSD-RJ), former municipal secretary for Youth, the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Paes (PSD), attacked the leadership of the state government under the management of Cláudio Castro (PL). The head of the Executive of the capital of Rio de Janeiro called Castro’s group “delinquents, bandits and vagabonds” during the inauguration of a sector of the Hospital do Andaraí, in the north of Rio, on the morning of this Friday, 13th.

“I’m going to make an effort to speak on behalf of the people of the State of Rio de Janeiro, soon, removing this bunch of cowards that are in the State government, bandits, delinquents, cowards. If they want to do evil, come at me. I threw a Lava Jato judge out of the Judiciary. I’m going to face these bums who use the State to do evil”, stated Paes. When contacted by the reporter, the Rio government had not yet responded until the publication of this article.

Salvino was arrested on the morning of Wednesday, 11th, by the State Civil Police on suspicion of links with Comando Vermelho. According to the Civil Police, councilor Oliveira had negotiated directly with drug dealer Edgar Alves de Andrade, known as “Doca”, authorization to carry out an electoral campaign in the community of Gardênia Azul, an area under the control of Comando Vermelho.

“I don’t touch a criminal’s head. If tomorrow, I have any proof of Salvino’s involvement or anything, I will be the first to say: “You will answer for your crimes and you will no longer have my solidarity”, said the mayor.

According to the investigation, the parliamentarian had articulated benefits to the criminal group, publicly presented as actions aimed at the local population. Paes came to the defense of the former secretary and attributed political persecution to the State government.
