Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL), hospitalized since Friday (13) after feeling ill in Papudinha, presented worsening kidney function and an increase in inflammatory markers, according to a medical bulletin released this Saturday afternoon.
Bolsonaro remains in the ICU of the DF Star hospital to treat bilateral bacterial pneumonia, caused by bronchoaspiration.
“[O ex-presidente] He is clinically stable, but has worsened renal function and increased inflammatory markers. Maintains treatment with antibiotics and intravenous hydration, respiratory and motor physiotherapy, in addition to measures to prevent venous thrombosis. There is no forecast for discharge from the ICU at this time”, says the bulletin, signed by doctors Claudio Birolini, Leandro Echenique, Brasil Caiado, Antônio Aurélio de Paiva Fagundes Jr. and Allisson B. Barcelos Borges.
Earlier this Saturday, deputy Bia Kicis (PL-DF) had said that she had improved in the last few hours, but that her condition still required care.
Kicis, an ally of Bolsonaro, made the statement on social media after meeting with the medical team treating the former president, at the DF Star hospital, in .
“[O ex-] President is better but his condition inspires care. He had a bronchial aspirate at 2:00 am and only received care at 7:00 am. He has an infection and needs time for his body to recover. He needs to go home or the worst could happen and he will be blamed,” the deputy wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the DF Military Police, Bolsonaro had a sudden illness in the early hours of Friday (13) in his cell in Papudinha (DF) and needed to be attended to by the medical team on duty, who understood that immediate transfer to the hospital was necessary.
The former president arrived at the health unit with nasal oxygen support and underwent tomography and laboratory tests.
On Friday afternoon, doctor Claudio Birolini, who treats Bolsonaro, stated that, despite showing stability, Bolsonaro’s health condition was “extremely serious”.
According to the doctor, the risk of aspiration pneumonia, caused by the reflux that Bolsonaro has faced since the stab wound he received during the presidential campaign in 2018, had been reported in reports sent to the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes.
Doctors also said on Friday that the former president would remain hospitalized for at least seven days.
The medical bulletin released by DF Star early Friday afternoon reported that Bolsonaro had a high fever, a drop in oxygen saturation, sweating and chills.
