Former Minister of the Civil House told Jovem Pan that the decision was taken following an invitation from President Lula
Former Minister of the Civil House José Dirceu (PT) confirmed to Young Pan this Monday (16) that he is a pre-candidate for federal deputy for São Paulo. The PT member stated that the decision to run was taken after an invitation from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
According to him, the eventual election to the Chamber of Deputies would allow contribute to the government and the party. “I believe that I can help President Lula and the PT in the Chamber of Deputies”, he assessed.
The candidate also defended changes in the parliamentary representation system and stated that he intends to work for a political reform that changes the current rule for distributing seats between the States.
“I want to fight for São Paulo to have its 111 deputies and for a political reform that puts an end to the rule of a minimum of eight and a maximum of 70 deputies, which only exists in Brazil and distorts the nation’s representation in the Chamber,” he stated.
Between aces priorities for his eventual role in the Chamberthe former minister cited education, science and technology, political reform, public security, defense of democracynational sovereignty and preservation of social achievements provided for in the 1988 Constitution.
