No customers have wandered into The Ottoman Empire furniture store for a long time. Clark, the manager, throws a blanket on one of the sofas at night because he is no longer welcome in his home since a divorce that was very detrimental to him. The neon light appears to have a loose connection, which is reason enough to take a closer look at the fuse box. And there is actually a switch there that shouldn’t be there. A crooked thing where everything actually has to be in order. Whether it has anything to do with this switch, which will soon be in the film Backrooms is going on is not entirely clear. The only thing that is clear is that Clark ends up walking through a wall that opens and closes in front of him, as if he had entered another dimension. Basically, it’s just another room in which furnishings are piled up, as if the artist Claes Oldenburg had forgotten one of his assemblages in a parallel universe.
