The Court of São Paulo decreed, this Tuesday (17/03), the preventive detention of the newly sworn-in delegate Layla Lima Ayub and your boyfriend, Jardel Neto Pereira da Cruzknown in the criminal world as “Dedel”.
Both were already in custody, and the new decision converts temporary detention into preventive detention, ensuring continued detention while the process progresses.
The couple was targeted by Operation Serpenslaunched in January by the Civil Police and the Public Ministry of São Paulo (MPSP). Jardel is identified by authorities as one of the main leaders of the First Capital Command (PCC) in the northern region of the country, with strong presence in the state of Pará.

Infiltration and contradictions
The case shocked public opinion due to the audacity of those involved. Layla took office as a police chief in December and, on that occasion, Jardel even attended the Police Academy (Acadepol) to honor his girlfriend. Investigations, however, indicate that Layla would have a lawyer for members of Comando Vermelho (CV) even after assuming public office, which seriously violates the statute of lawyers and decisions of the STF.
Despite having provided services to the rival faction, the MPSP claims that Layla’s personal bond with Jardel connected her directly to the interests of the PCC. The suspicion is that the position in the Civil Police would be used to facilitate the operations of the São Paulo faction.
criminal history
Jardel Neto has an extensive record. Arrested in 2021 for leading the expansion of the PCC in the North region historically dominated by the CV, he progressed to the semi-open regime, but fled in 2023. According to investigations, he left the city of Marabá (PA) illegally to live in São Paulo with the delegate.
With the decree of preventive measures, the Court seeks to prevent those under investigation from interfering in the collection of evidence or fleeing. The couple is now responsible for drug trafficking, criminal association and malfeasance, in one of the most serious cases of infiltration recorded in public security in São Paulo recently.
