The deadline for delivery of the Income Tax 2026 It starts next Monday (23rd) and runs until May 29th.
Given the start, the taxpayer needs to carefully check the recommendations of the Federal Revenuenot only to avoid fine mesh, but also to avoid falling into blows involving payments via Pix.
. Through the CPF and the taxpayer’s real address, these sites pretended to be Tax and carried out irregular charges through SMS, WhatsApp and email.
data scientist Rafaela Helbing, CEO of Data Rudder, a company specializing in anti-fraud intelligence, warns: “It’s a scenario that requires extra attention.”
This is because, despite being the favorite of Brazilians, the agility of transfers with Pix reduces the reaction window for financial institutions and public bodies.
Furthermore, Rafaela highlights that “the use of real taxpayer information gives an appearance of legitimacy to approaches that can induce victims to make immediate payments under pressure.”
Is it a scam or not?
Fraud exploits a sense of urgency and the authority of institutions. In this sense, Rafaela cites as an example of doubtful situations:
- O sending messages simulating notifications from the Federal Revenue Service about supposed pending issues that would require regularization via Pix;
- A Tampering with QR Codes in payment guides;
- A promise of advance refunds by depositing administrative fees.
According to the expert, the central objective in these types of cases is to direct resources to accounts controlled by fraudsters before the embezzlement is identified.
The Federal Revenue, in turn, indicates that taxpayers must pay attention to some points, and this is the main indicator of fraud.
Furthermore, fraudulent messages often bring elements of urgency, as mentioned by the data scientist. Raise the red flag if you observe:
- Payment deadlines of just a few minutes;
- Threats of blocking CPF or bank accounts;
- “Discount” offers for immediate payment.
When identifying any of these points, before carrying out any type of financial operation, check if there are pending issues in the e-CAC official portal. The IRS also warns that it does not charge for messages, emails or external links.
